Designer, Shauna Neill, started Blossom Handmade 6 years ago as a small, home-industry type business in Durban, South Africa, designing and making everything herself, and selling the range at markets and open days. It has grown slowly and steadily and now employs 6 other part-time staff. Each item made at Blossom Handmade is handmade in the Durban studio by previously unemployed women, using locally produced materials. As of Sep 2014, the very popular T-shirt necklaces, are now made by hand at the newly built clothing factory at LIV Village * thereby providing full-time employment to an additional 3 ladies from the local community of Amaoti.
